22-23 Self Assessment Window

Window Closes 31 October 23

Process

Here is a link to a document containing a list of Income Declarations for you to review. This acts as a prompt for you to consider areas of information that might be relevant for your tax return, and ensures compliance with the requirements.

To ensure a clear audit trail, please ensure any information necessary for the completion of your tax return is including in, or attached to this declaration form. Any information supplied in an alternative way will not be accepted.

If you need any support in the preparation or submission of this form, do not hesitate to contact me. You can schedule a session here.

You will receive further reminders later in the year. A final reminder will be sent sometime in early Autumn.

Upon receipt of your declaration form and supplementary information, a first draft of your tax return will be made available to you which will contain any working assumptions made. You'll be asked to review your income declarations, any working assumptions, and a summary of the underlying calculations.

Upon receipt of your approval, you will be sent an email with confirmation of filing, a summary of your account, payment details, and a request for digital sign off of the return itself.

22-23 payments on account (if applicable) should be / should have been settled by 31 Jan 23 and 31 Jul 23 respectively with the balancing charge by 31 Jan 24. Reminders to settle your 31 Jul 23 payment on account and 31 Jan 24 balancing charge will be sent to you shortly before the deadline.

Our commitment to You

Normally you can expect to have received a first draft of your tax return within a couple of weeks of you completing your form and sending us your information.

There may be a slightly longer lead time during busier periods.

Our commitment to you, is that you will receive a draft of your tax return no longer than 4 weeks after you have sent in your information, completed the declaration form, and any resulting queries have been resolved.

What we ask

This Practice’s deadline for the receipt of contributing information and the resolution of all resulting queries, is 31 Oct 23. This lead time is necessary in order to be able to guarantee filing of your tax returns by the HMRC deadline of 31 Jan 24.

If you foresee any issues in meeting this date, please let me know as soon as possible. I’d be very happy to discuss an arrangement with you.

Due to multiple conflicting deliverables and the unpredictable nature of this time of year, we are unable to guarantee filing of your tax return by the 31 Jan 24 HMRC deadline, for those who do not meet the deadline and have not discussed alternative timescales with me in advance. An admin fee may also apply.

Internal deadlines and admin fees do no not apply to new clients joining since the beginning of the current tax year.

If you foresee any issues with this date, please let me know as soon as possible.
